A Los Angeles doctor was arrested this week and charged with second-degree murder and other crimes in the 2009 prescription drug overdose deaths of three of her patients, police said.
Police arrested 42-year-old Hsiu-Ying “Lisa” Tseng after a court appearance on Friday. She is being held pending $3 million bail for the deaths of three young men, for whom Tseng prescribed numerous drugs in 2009, investigators said.
Tseng, who opened her office in Rowland Heights in 2005, had been under investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration since 2008 after a local pharmacy reported irregularities in her patients’ prescriptions.
Tseng’s license to prescribe medication was revoked by the DEA and a motion to revoke her medical license has been filed by the Osteopathic Medical Board of California.
